The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) have stepped up their search for brave participants to take on the ultimate tests to show they have Commando Spirit and today launch a competition for the last remaining places.

As part of their challenge to raise £6,000,000 by the 350th anniversary of the Royal Marines in 2014, the RMCTF are looking for people to get involved in the Commando Spirit Series of events, which allow participants to take on challenges that mirror the exercises Royal Marines undertake as part of their training, with the aim of raising £1,000,000 for the charity.

The series begins with ‘Escape the Dunker’ in September 2011, which will see a small band of brave challengers take on the infamous ‘Dunker’ – a tough Royal Marines training exercise which simulates escape from a helicopter crash at sea.

Participants so far include high-fliers from the financial, medical, legal and security industry sectors, sportsmen, homemakers and even filmmakers. The Yeovilton event is now full however the event on 3^rd September in Aberdeen still has a few places available.

Simon Hill, Chairman RMCTF Campaign Board explained “It’s heartening to see the motivation of the participants signed up so far, and we have just a few places left for those who wish to join them. We encourage you to show your commando spirit and take up this challenge in order to support the Royal Marines who risk their all for us.”
