In the week commencing 11th September, Keith Breslauer of Patron Capital, will be attempting the climb of a lifetime by taking on the famous "Nose" route of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in California.

Together with an experienced guide team (Gilbert Matillat and Lionel Briand of Chamonix and SkiWeekend) Keith will also try to climb the Regular Northwest Face route of Half Dome if time permits.

The group has undergone intense training over the past three months with the help of Audrey Seguy and Olly Archer of the Castle Climbing Centre. The training included testing all the special gear and making sure they can use a Portaledge (for sleeping on the wall).

The group has also teamed up with approximately 30 disabled Royal Marine veterans who will be climbing Mount Snowdon at the same time as they scale the nose of El Cap. Both goals will test the limits of physical and mental endurance – one is defined by the route; the other is defined by physical injury, but both require total commitment, a desire to succeed and a good sense of humour!

So far funds raised total over £25,000, all of which will go directly to The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund to help support the challenge to raise £6,000,000 by 2014, you can read more about the challenge by clicking here.
