British Home Secetary, Rt Hon Theresa May and First Sea Lord, Admiral Mark Stanhope, join the celebrations for the annual Commando 999 Speedmarch Marathon in aid of The Royal Marines Association
Details: Come and support Commando 999 as they undertake their famous annual speedmarch through the streets of London.
Starting from The Mall, a team of over 100 former Royal Marines Commando’s will cover a grueling 26 mile course across Central London, passing a number of influential landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square.
Along the route, the troops will also be popping into Downing Street to meet The Home Secretary, Rt Hon Theresa May and the First Sea Lord, Admiral Mark Stanhope.
On completion of the run, the 100 strong ‘Speedmarch’ will be met by the Royal Marines Corps of Drums at Waterloo Place at the junction with Pall Mall. The runners will then don their famous Green Berets and be marched with the drums onto The Mall and down to the Royal Marines National Memorial close to Admiralty Arch where a wreath will be laid in memory of those Royal Marines that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
About the Charity: Commando 999 is dedicated to former Royal Marines Commando’s who are now serving in the UK emergency services. This includes firefighters, ambulance servicemen and police officers.
Commando 999 was founded in 2009 by Mark Scoular and aims to raise over £1m for The Royal Marines Association by 2014. Every penny raised for The Royal Marines Association goes directly towards caring for the entire Corps family from cradle to grave. This involves providing support for both injured servicemen and women and their immediate families.
If you would like to support Commando 999 why not come into Central London on Saturday 12th November to witness this unique parade.
