The Challenge so far
Despite the winter closing in and the days getting shorter, our fundraisers were still out in force over the month of October, with some people running the Cardiff half marathon, some taking to more tropical climates for the Barcelona Ironman and others partaking in the Crazy Bear Ball near Oxford.
Other fundraising events included the Royal Marines Corporate Golf Day at the RAC Club in Epsom and a performance by the Royal Marines Association Concert Band in Margate.
As Royal Marines from 3 Commando Brigade returned home from Afghanistan, their tenth such deployment since 2001, some of you may have seen our advertising campaign running to promote our challenge to raise £6M by 2014. The overall response to the campaign was good with our website traffic doubling as people visited to find out more about how we support the Royal Marines (read about Our Challenge by clicking here)
With Christmas fast approaching we also launched our range of charity Christmas cards and 2012 diaries in October, which are being distributed by the Royal Marines Association. You can find out more about how to order the Christmas cards here
Money was spent in October to support A Royal Marine who has been seriously ill in Hospital for the last 4 months has been helped by RMCTF and other Corps Charities. The help has seen his family supported with transport costs to between the home and the hospital and a Laptop so that he can conduct online education courses whilst he is in hospital.
Recently this Marine received RM and Hasler Company kit for him to wear in and around the Hospital. This is as a daily reminder to him that the Corps is still there to support both him and as important his family.
Once again we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our fundraisers and supporters for their contribution towards the challenge so far. To find out how you can get involved visit the Your Challenge page here
