Our Challenge
Our challenge is to raise £6M by the 350th anniversary of the Royal Marines in 2014 so that we can better support the:
Recovery Pathway
Helping the wounded and injured in any way we can, particularly as the most severely injured begin their transition into civilian life; quite simply, the RMCTF will help when others cannot.
Decompression/Quality of Life Pathway
Helping those still serving and facing successive tours in high threat environments - providing adventure training for those returning from operations, funding homecoming events, financing memorials, maintaining our heritage etc.
Through Life Pathway
Continuing the same level of support and care once the beneficiaries break their formal links to the Corps.
Sadly, but importantly, the RMCTF also provides a grant to the next of kin of those who die in service within 48 hours of the event.
Your questions answered
- What is the RMCTF?
- The RMCTF is the overarching Royal Marine charity and money raised can be used for very wide purposes, probably the widest of any service charity.
- Who runs it?
- The RMCTF is run by Royal Marines for Royal Marines, it is governed by a group of serving and retired Trustees who have a very wide view of need and a determination to ensure that any money donated is used to best effect.
- Who benefits?
- Serving and retired Royal Marines and their dependants.
- What is the current focus?
- In 2010, the focus of effort was to equip Recovery Troops in the main units of 3 Commando Brigade to ease and expedite the recovery of the wounded and injured and to support 40 Commando when they returned from Helmand last autumn. Plans are being made to support the remainder of 3 Commando Brigade who are deployed in Afghanistan this year. Also in 2011 Trustees have refocused their effort on supporting those having to leave the Royal Marines due to wounds, injury or illness.
- What about the future?
- The RMCTF Trustees are running a fund raising campaign to ensure that the RMCTF can support their beneficiaries long term, particularly as those with service limiting injuries transition to life outside the Royal Marines.
- Does the RMCTF have a relationship to other charities?
- The RMCTF runs its own fund raising activities and donates regularly to other service charities providing direct benefit to Royal Marines – SSAFA; St Dunstan's; Combat Stress; BLESMA; RN/RM Children's Fund etc.
